Taos Clay Summer & Winter Residencies
Requirements: Competence in the ceramic arts and a desire to become a full time ceramic artist. MFA, BFA preferred.
Taos Clay offers two full time residencies to emerging clay artist wishing to be in an environment where they can develop a body of work. Residents are offered a monthly stipend of clay and firings, a private studio, the opportunity to sell their work in the gallery and paid teaching positions. Taos Clay offers a studio resident position and a gallery resident position. The studio resident is expected to maintain the community studio, enroll new studio members, and fulfill general tasks around the studio. The gallery resident is expected to keep up with PR, marketing and shows in the gallery. Both residency positions give insight into managing a clay studio and gallery, while enabling residents to develop a body of work through access to a diverse range of firing techniques and equipment. Residents have a genuine commitment to working with clay, a willingness to work with the local community, and a desire to grow in the development of their own work. They bring a high level of professionalism and competency to the studio that enriches the quality of our programs and facility. Taos Clay offers all the components of a ceramic studio with a specialty in atmospheric firing to help resident artists reach the next stage of development in their careers.
